When my mother wants to do something, she goes about it the traditional way. When I want to do something, I just turn to software for help. Take, for example, the task of choosing something to watch on TV. My mother’s way of going about it would be to pick up the TV guide and start flipping through its pages – you know, a real-paper TV guide you can pick up from a newsstand.

I, on the other hand, as mentioned above, turn to software for help. There are applications for pretty much anything you want to do, and checking what’s on TV is no different. The application I can turn to is the TV-Browser.org-developed and aptly named TV-Browser.

Basically, the program covers more than 1000 TV stations and more than 100 radio channels. It is practically an electronic program guide that downloads the latest information about TV programs and displays that info in a pretty easy to figure out interface that resembles a traditional TV guide.

The installation process of TV-Browser can be completed in seconds by almost any type of user. The software supports almost any Windows version, including XP and Windows 7. When running the software for the first time, a list of plugins will be displayed, allowing the user to select which one he would like to install. There are a few plugins that should be installed in order for the program to work. After completing this step, the list of channels will be populated and the user can select for which channel he wants EPG information displayed.

The information can be shown for the current day or for the whole week. Thus, one can easily spot all his preferred shows and he will not miss any of them. The list of channels, together with the program, can be updated automatically on a daily basis.

Pros

The software is very easy to use and features a wizard for configuring its functionality. Besides that, it covers numerous TV stations and radio stations from all over the world. Furthermore, it offers support for skins and plugins.

Cons

US citizens will not appreciate the fact that the program offers few channels for them. TV-Browser is the perfect software for displaying EPG information for almost any TV and radio station.
